some call it kpom, grass, aunty mary, igbo, jogodo, dope, hemp, pot, reefer, crack, gangster, ganja, hash, herb, sensimilla, keg and most popularly, marijuana is the word most often used illegal drug extracted from the hemp plant cannabis sativa. the main active chemical among the roughly 400 chemicals found in the cannabis plant is THC (delta-9-tetra-hydrocannabinol.

mostly rooled by users into cigarette form called 'joint', it can be smoked in a water pipe called 'bong' or mixed into food or brewed as tea. it has also appeared in cigars called, 'blunts'. it is usually a green or gray mixture of dried shredded flowers and leaves of the hemp plant.

over the years, young people have had problems with memory and learning, some distorted perception (sights, sound, time, and touch), a lot others have had troubles with thinking and problem solving, loss of motorr co-ordination, increased heart rate, and anxiety. on the long run, marijuana causes cancer because research have shown that someone who smokes five joints per week may be taking in as much as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes a full pack of cigarettes everyday.

in our immediate surrounding, you can attest to how dirty and disorganized marijuana users look. the worst effect is in its addiction, this is when marijuana users find it hard to limit their use of the drug and medically, doctors say they have become 'psychologically dependent' on the drug. at this point, users call it 'burn-out', because they have become unaware of their surroundings that they do not respond when friends and relatives talk to them, and they do not realize that they have a problem.

although, many who in one way or the other have profited from the cannabis plant claim that it is beneficiary to the human health, no scientific evidence indicates that marijuana improves hearing, eye sight and skin sensitivity. studies of marijuana's mental effect shows that the drug can impair or reduce short term memory, alter sense of time, and reduce the ability to do things with required concentration, swift reactions and co-ordinations, such as driving a car or operating a machine. although, many user claims that it opens their brain to think or mind to reason, THC can only be used as medicine when it is manufactured into pill that is taken by mouth NOT SMOKED! And it is for treating the nausea and the vomiting that go along side with certain cancer treatment which is available only by prescription.

the fight against the illegal use of this drug drug has been on for years but its negative influence is still increasing, statistics says that over 120,000 people enter treatment per year for their primary addiction. the Nigerian drug law enforcement agency (NDLEA) has been really effective but if continue at the present pace, by 2015, our nation would have failed. definitely, we need addiction measure to help curb this drug.

our universities have been seized by marijuana users both male and female, and if we do not stop them now, our offices, banks, markets government offices and society at large will be filled with drug users. if we do not do this now, we may wipe out the next generation.

At Successpills, we have discovered that most of the users of the drug do not know its negative effects and have been forced into it by peer pressure. so, we want to launch out the 'stay-off weed' campaign to save the future of this nation. we are asking you, the government and the general public to join us as Succespills Int'l takes the lead by educating our youths and start turning things around.

Mankind narrowed to Nigeria is hungry for action not for words, this is a hard task, but not to do anything now is a crime against humanity. this is unprecedented opportunity to save the future. so, what say you?
